Assignment #4 Six Minute English

I just heard the topic "Do opposites attractive?" from the website 6 minutes English. I found out that we really can improve dramatically our listening skills by surfing this website. I have my own notes after listening "Do opposites attractive?". The two speakers are discussing about can we fall in love with other at the first sight? Next, both of them feel that humor is very important in a relationship. Besides that, they also think that the health of women also is a vital case. Men always think that women must be able to conceive and get pregnant soon getting babies successfully. If women can't pregnant, men will think that they won't fall in love in this kind of women. Nowadays, women or men tried to have plastic surgery for changing their appearance to attract someone. By the way, both of the two speakers usually think that humor and kind eyes are the perfect way to attract someone and fall in love with. The question that asked from this topic is what percentage of Americans said they believe in love at first sight? The answer is 56%. 

I really believe that this website can help a lot of people to improve their English because of their (this website) clearly and fluently English. I will continue to use this website to getting ahead my English listening skill.

I've just listening the ESL Podcast 1165-Eating spicy foods from the website eslpod.com.

The words that  I listened from the episode are shown below:

1. eyes watering: fill with tears

2. spicy: refer to foods that hot

3. curry: a dish associate in India that cook in vegetables and                     spicy sauce

4. mild: refer to the spiciness of the foods

5. medium: between the spicy and mild foods, or the foods are                       not so spicy

6. peppers: vegetables can often make foods very spicy

7. hot sauce: liquid that put on foods, made from spicy peppers

8. roof of my mouth: top part of mouth, top above tongue

9. on fire: i) to have a burning feeling because the food was                              spicy
                ii) doing or finished something very well

10. taste buds: points on tongue can sense taste of foods

11. a little kick to it: little bit spicy

12. pungent: having very strong smell or taste

13. zesty: slightly spicy flavour

14. to cool down: to lower the temperature of something

15. heat: cause by very spicy food

16. to fill up on: to eat or drink something so much not hungry                               or thirsty

17. dessert: sweet food served at the end of meal




I think this website is suitable for the English learner. I like the content in this website but the speech is too slow for me. I like this website because I can learn a lot of phrases and vocabulary. Besides that, I can also learn how to explain the vocab with English. I'll try to listen the different topic from the website and also use other website that teacher given.

1.specializing: to become an expert in a particular area of work, study or business.
    example sentence:He is specializing in business management.

2.voila:used to say "there it is"
   example sentence:Voila! You give me a shock!

3.trimmer:a machine for cutting the edges of bushes, grass, hair and hedges
   example sentence:He cuts the grass by using a trimmer.

4.styling: the act of cutting or shaping hair in a particular style
   example sentence:She puts on some styling gels on the model's hair.

5. vacation:this word has two meaning.
    1.a period of time when something was closed
    2.a period of time spent travelling or resting away from home.
    example sentence:My family is on vacation in Spain.
